How We Can Help
Irish Eyes Ireland can arrange cataract surgery for Irish Citizens in a matter of weeks.
Our organisation makes use of the 2011 Cross Border Healthcare Directive. It is your right as an EU citizen to travel to the treatment centre in Holland and have the operation in one of the finest surgical units in Europe.
Check out the treatment centres on their website www.eyescan.nl
Eyescan Eyecare Organisation is one of the largest providers of specialist eye care in Holland.
Irish Eyes Ireland PAYS ALL THE CLINIC FEES FOR YOU. MOST OF THE MONEY IS RECOVERED FROM THE IRISH GOVERNMENT UNDER THE CROSS BORDER HEALTHCARE DIRECTIVE. ANY SHORTFALL IS COVERED BY US.
We make this easy.
In a perfect world you would get your treatment in Ireland.
In the real world that is going to take years.
We understand that travelling to Holland is inconvenient,
but so is going blind!!!
Once you have confirmed that you would like to have surgery and you have been offered an appointment date at the Clinic, then all you need to do is book your flight.
The clinic is about 15 mins from Amsterdam Airport. It is a centre of excellence and is approved by all the necessary Dutch Regulatory bodies.
We have done all the work needed to provide a complete surgical and care package.
All you need to do is turn up for your appointment in Holland.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR THIS FREE TREATMENT?
Its really simple. You need to contact Irish Eyes Ireland and request that one of our volunteers talks you through the HSE paperwork needed to comply with the Cross Border Scheme.
You will need a referral letter from your G.P. or a qualified Optometrist. Perhaps you will need a visit to an approved local optometrist to do an initial assessment.
For Medical Card Holders this is usually free. Once we have confirmation that you have booked your flight we will confirm your appointment with the Surgeon in Holland.
